Reports: Sergio Aguero set to sign a whopping new deal with Manchester City

Sergio Aguero
City’s golden boy is set to be rewarded

Good news for Manchester City fans as Sergio Aguero is set to sign a new deal with the club. The club are currently in negotiations with their player and are looking to extend his current deal which expires in 2019.

The extension is set to add another 12 months to his contract and also significantly increase his wages. Aguero currently earns £220,000 the same as Yaya Toure who also earns the same amount. But the new deal would make him the highest paid player in the City squad.

The forward has been in fine goalscoring form this season and has probably been CIty’s best player so far. So it would be wise for the club to tie him down to a new contract to avoid potential bids in the future.

According to The Sun, the 27-year-old is set to receive a £30,000 hike in his salary taking his total to £250,000 per week. In total the deal will be worth around £52 million over the four-year period, i.e starting from now until the end of 2020.

The outlet also reports that talks are currently ongoing and should be completed after Manchester City’s game against Liverpool today in the League Cup Final. Aguero joined Manchester City in the summer of 2011 and scored a 95th-minute winner on the last day of the season against QPR that won City the title.

United were level on points with City but were inferior to them on goal difference. Before that goal the Red Devils might have been celebrating as City were held by QPR. But as it turned out Aguero’s goal clinched it in one of the most dramatic Premier league seasons of all time.

Since then Aguero has gone on to achieve more success after winning the Capital One cup as well as once again lifting the Premier League trophy in 2014. The 27-year-old has scored 124 goals in 188 appearances in the sky Blue shirt and will be looking to add to his current tally of 14 this season.

First chance of silverware for Manchester City

Aguero and Manchester City have a chance to win their first silverware of the season against Liverpool today as they face each other in the League Cup final today.

With City looking wobbly in the Premier League currently nine points off top of the table Leicester City who won against Norwich last night this might be their best chance of a trophy this season.

Liverpool are also way off the pace in the league and Jurgen Klopp could win his first silverware as their manager which will make his season a more successful one.
