Ramos has slammed Pique again

Sergio Ramos was very unhappy after the exchange between Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa. The two players had a twitter battle where they hurled insults at each other. The feud began when Arbeloa tweeted after Barcelona’s shocking loss to Real Sociedad.

The two players continued to exchange several angry words with Pique stating the fact he doesn’t start as a regular for Real Madrid. Ramos has come out to defend his teammate and has criticized Pique for his behavior.

Speaking on Radio Cope he said, “There is no getting around this kind of discussion, these childish things that people like Pique should avoid. A little humor never hurts, of course, but not disrespect.”

The Real Madrid captain hit out at his Barcelona counterpart’s comments and how he should be more responsible with his social media activity. “I do not know about periscope. I've always tried to take good care of my privacy.”

Barcelona were in poor form after losing 3 consecutive matches in La Liga but arrested that slump in spectacular fashion after thumping Deportivo La Coruna 8-0. It seems they have regained control over the title race but still have to win all their remaining matches, with Atletico Madrid and Real breathing down their necks.

Ramos almost joined Manchester United

Ramos admitted that he considered joining Manchester United after the Red Devils have made him an offer. “There was an offer from United," Ramos told COPE. "I considered changing for a while but Real Madrid was always my priority and there were no economic reasons”, said the defender.

There were reports that he was unsettled at the club but the defender has now put those issues to bed. “Did I feel cheated [by Madrid]? No, but I did feel disappointed for a while. There were some troubles that came to an end.”

Puyol wants end to Pique-Arbeloa feud

Former Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has also called for a stop to the immaturity shown by the two players. “I think it’s best if neither [Pique nor Arbeloa] continue this game because many children are watching, although the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid will always exist.”, he said during the Laureus Awards gala.

Puyol was true gentlemen of the game and formed an impressive partnership with Pique when he was at the club. The 38-year-old has achieved a lot of success with the club and was respected by the entire footballing community for his outstanding sportsman spirit
