Sunderland on Verge of Finalizing a Deal for United Duo

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is all set to finalize a deal for Manchester United’s Wes Brown and John O’Shea and is expected to announce their arrival in next 48 hours.

Devil duo headed to Sunderland

Defender Wes Brown,31, was on Wearside for a medical last night while O’Shea, whose talks with Black Cats have been on a hold after he was recently blessed with a baby girl, is expected to have a medical sometime soon.

Sunderland have wasted no time in strengthening their squad from the cash they acquired from the £24M and £20M sale of Darren Bent and Jordan Henderson respectively. Ahmed Elmohamady, Connor Wickham, Craig Gardner, Ji Dong-won, Keiren Westwood and Sebastian Larsson have already arrived at the Stadium of Light, but with loan signings Nedum Onuoha and John Mensah having returned to their clubs, there are still gaps to plug at the back.

Brown and O’Shea have both the experience and versatility Sunderland want and the duo will gel along nicely with the youth in the team.

Sunderland are also interested in Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan, another experienced player with a good reading of the game. The player is available for a free transfer and will finalise his move after a medical.

In other United transfer news, the Red Devils are still credited with a heavy interest in wantaway Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, are have reportedly had a bid of close to 18 million pounds turned down already. Stay tuned for more on both the ins and outs at Old Trafford.
