The EFL Championship returns with a fresh set of fixtures as Sunderland welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Stadium of Light on Tuesday. The Baggies have lost their last three clashes in the fixture since a 2-1 victory in December 2022.

Sunderland were involved in a share of the spoils for a fourth consecutive game, in a 1-1 draw with Millwall at the Den on Saturday. The Black Cats have gone nine matches without defeat, winning four, since a 2-1 loss to Watford in September.

With 32 points from 16 matches, Sunderland are second in the Championship, ahead of Sheffield United and behind leaders Leeds United on goal difference.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion were denied consecutive games for the first time since September in a 2-2 draw with Norwich City at the Hawthorns on Saturday.

That followed a 2-1 victory over Hull City at the MKM Stadium, which snapped their run of eight-game winless run. West Bromwich Albion have 26 points from 16 matches to sit sixth in the standings, ahead of Watford on goal difference.
