The Bubbly Football Transfer Gossip: July 25th 2011

Lots of stuff in the papers today, one that is interesting is that Barton has claimed on Twitter that he ain’t going anywhere.

Let’s just get into all that juicy gossip!

Barton ain’t going anywhere

Well, yesterday it was claimed somewhere that Manchester United were chasing tough tackling (sorry for the understatement) midfielder Joey Barton, but now he has come out on Twitter and he has had his own say on what he thinks of this ongoing speculation:

Nice to be linked with some big clubs today but I honestly don’t want to leave Newcastle. Thanks but no thanks. #unfinishedbusinesshere

I will most likely leave Newcastle at end of season, when my contract expires and I am no longer employed. Its out of my hands #iwanttostay?

It’s better that way.

Pastore in, Modric Not In for Chelsea?

Sorry for the somewhat ridiculous title for this, but there wasn’t a better fit for this transfer rumour, as Metro

claims that Chelsea are very close to signing Javier Pastore. Here’s what they had to say:

A move bringing attacking midfielder Javier Pastore to Chelsea almost complete, Palermo vice-president Guglielmo Micciche has claimed, leaving Tottenham’s Luka Modric’s chances of joining the Blues in ruins. - Metro

Well, Chelsea are trying to buy two players who look never to move from the respective clubs, so it’s going to take quite a lot of cash to take either away from their clubs (if that was even possible in Modric’s case).

Arsenal Willing to let Fabregas go for less than 40 million pounds…

….if Barcelona are willing to include their young midfielder Thiago Alcantara as part of the deal for the Spaniard. This one’s another story from Metro:

Arsenal are prepared to sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona for less than £40m, but only if 20-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara is included in the deal. - Metro

Never ending.

Aquaman Could Yet Be Leaving

This prompts a lot of mixed reactions among Liverpool FC fans, and I guess the best way for you guys to understand what this is about is to see this yourself:

Alberto Aquilani could yet leave Liverpool in the transfer window after his representative revealed he is planning talks with Italian side Fiorentina. - Telegraph

And so I leave today with what I hope is going to be a new tradition here on Two Liverpool Fans, the Comment Question of the Day, and today’s question for Liverpool fans, Do you want Aquilani to stay beyond this season?
