The magnificence of Manchester City

Stoke City v Manchester City - Premier League

Manchester United have been really good this season, but it has been their local rivals that have truly dominated the Premier League so far, thanks to some scintillating and attacking football, swift link-up play, great goals, brilliant passes, and a certain Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City are flying in the league and already 9 points ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. They have scored a staggering number of 29 goals in their first 8 games. Drawing just once in their second league game of the season against Everton, they have won all of their other matches and boy, some of those victories have been simply emphatic!

Ruthless performances

City annihilated Watford for a 6-0 victory

From battering Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad to beating Watford 6-0 away and smashing 5 past a hapless Crystal Palace side, City have been absolutely ruthless in their approach and have entertained their fans with some beautiful football.

A tactical and masterful display against Chelsea, who only a week before had beaten a stern Athletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano, showed that City are, in fact, the team to beat this season. The club put seven goals past Stoke City the following gameweek, thereby cemented that fact once again.

Pep Guardiola's brilliance

Will Guardiola add the elusive Premier League title to his impressive CV?

There have been a number of stars who have been excellent this season, but none has shone more than Pep Guardiola. He has simply transformed the team into an attacking juggernaut and has built a group of stars that is reminiscent of his days at FC Barcelona, which in itself is says something big.

He replaced City’s aging backline with some smart fullback buys before the season began. Both Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy have performed well defensively and have been even better going forward.

While Sergio Aguero was expected to leave City before this season, he now looks lethal and better than ever, which is a true testament to the Guardiola's managerial capabilities.

Sterling, who was not able to replicate his Liverpool form since arriving at Manchester City, is probably in the best form of his life now.

Even without three big match players like Mendy, Aguero and Vincent Kompany, City were solid against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Two things that stood out in that match, were Pep's spot-on tactics and a dazzling Kevin De Bruyne.

A team of winners

Chelsea v Manchester City - Premier League

A number of players have stood out for City this season: from Ederson, who has finally solved City’s long-standing issues between the posts, to his compatriot Gabriel Jesus, who has knocked in 6 goals so far, almost every first team player has lived up to his potential.

Fernandinho has been compact in midfield while David Silva has been the architect of their attack. Leroy Sane, who has been named the Premier League's fastest player, makes strong statements with his performances every week

Kevin De Bruyne: The standout performer

Chelsea v Manchester City - Premier League

The one man has stood out from this group of talented individuals and arguably is the Premier league’s best player at the moment is Kevin De Bruyne.

The numbers that suggest one goal and five assists for the Belgian in the season so far do not do justice to how good he has been for City till now. He is everything a football fan wants.

His three wonderful assists against Stoke, one of which included brilliant deception to provide Sane with the ball, just show why he is the Premier leagues finest.

A lethal combination of flawless movement with the ball, accurate passing, and superb vision make him a complete midfielder that every team yearns for right at the moment.

"Attack is the best form of defense" has certainly been Guardiola's philosophy till now. His team has certainly brought the beauty back into the game. What needs to be seen now is how far they can go this season.

But, for now, let’s just enjoy what is an immaculate Man City team that is being nurtured and helmed by the genius in Guardiola.
