What's the story?

Former Chelsea FC goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says that Real Madrid sensation Vinicius Jr. reminds him of compatriot, Eden Hazard.

Following the victory over Alaves, Courtois hailed Vinicius Jr's performance as he said, "Yes he does remind me of someone—Eden Hazard. He has so much self-confidence and belief at his age, and he plays boldly and without fear, so they are very similar. This victory is important because they defend well and are a tough opponent, so we are happy.

Despite being just 18 years of age, the Brazilian has been one of the stand-out players for the Spanish giants this season. The Brazilian prodigy, alongside Karim Benzema, is leading the attack for the Royal Whites and the latter has been benefiting from the youngster's exceptional skills and pace on the left flank.

With 18 goals and 6 assists registered to Benzema's name at this point of the season, these are the best statistical numbers from the Frenchman since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009.

In case you didn't know...

At his arrival under Julen Lopetegui, the Brazilian spent the better part of his time with Real Madrid Castilla. However, since Santiago Solari's appointment as the head coach, Vinicius Jr. has not only broken out into the first team but has also has become a pivotal organ of the Los Blancos' starting lineup.

The 18-year-old has already scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists so far this season. His staggering numbers in the debut season are cementing the fact that the Brazilian could be a long-term replacement for the departed Cristiano Ronaldo.

The heart of the matter

Eden Hazard's love affair with the thirteen-time European Champions is growing with each passing day. The Belgian forward had made his intentions of joining Real Madrid clear last summer.

With the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and iconic first team players approaching the latter stages of their football careers, Real Madrid needs to sign a Galactico in the coming summer. The Spanish giants have gone through a downfall from their usual standards this season, due to their inability to attack in Ronaldo's absence.

Courtois forced a move to Santiago de Bernabeu last summer and now wishes to reunite with his compatriot, Eden Hazard. The potential signing of Eden Hazard would not only include a missing global icon in their squad but also put an end to their attacking woes in Cristiano's absence.

What's next?

Solari's men currently occupy the third spot of the La Liga table, 8 points adrift of the leaders, FC Barcelona.

The Los Blancos' splendid form in recent fixtures is all the motivation Santiago Solari needs for the approaching CDR semi-final ties against their eternal rivals, FC Barcelona. This February is a vital month for Real Madrid's season as they face Atletico in La Liga and Ajax in Champions League round of 16.
