Things are finally looking up for Arsenal

A quartet of Premier League successes. The last four league games have seen Arsenal finally capitalise on others’ failings, scoring 16 goals, overtaking Chelsea and reminding Spurs who the dominant team in London is. Excluding own goals, the reliant Robin Van Persie has netted one goal less than the entire Liverpool team in the league this season. Keeping him will ensure Arsenal stay in and around the forefront of European football. With the recent quote from Arsene regarding RVP, “We must do everything to keep him,” surely Arsenal’s tight wage structure is about to take a hammering.

In addition, with Robin set to sit down with the club in the summer to discuss the renewal of his contract I imagine that he will make it fundamentally clear that his signature rests on the guarantee of marquee singings.

It seems very likely that (and many reporters saying that he has already signed) Podolski will be brought in this summer, hopefully to supplement Van Persie and bolster our attack; who else may be signed to encourage his signature? It is a well known fact that Mr. Wenger placed a last minute bid on young German attacking midfielder, Mario Gotze last summer, and I imagine that he will resume his contact at the end of this season.

Disturbingly it is looking very likely that Jan Vertonghen, Ajax captain and central defender, is on his way to Spurs. It would be a massive mistake to let this multi talented player to slip away and aid our rivals. Finally, last summer also saw Arsenal place bids of around £23m for Yann M’Vila. I am personally a huge admirer of this defensively minded box to box midfielder. As well as him being the closest thing to Viera currently playing in the French league it is looking worryingly as if Diaby will have a career stuttered by injury, M’Vila is a more than adequate replacement.

M’Vila…. more than adequate replacement for injury-prone Diaby

However, it’s fairly tedious speculating and dreaming of summer transfers, I merely wanted to list a few players who would ensure Van Persie’s signature and massively bolster our team.

Instead, lets compliment a player already in our team who has restored some pride to our name and faith in our defence, who we all love… Wojciech Szczesny. For years we had to put up with one goal keeping howler after another. Thanks to Manuel Almunia we lost out on possible Cup and League success. Basically, it just feels so good to finally have an assured and excellent keeper in the Polish international. Ever since his debut away at Manchester United, he has been a charismatic figure on and off the pitch, concluding with his astonishing double save to defy Liverpool a goal.

Being at Anfield on Saturday, gave me the honour of being amongst thousands of jubilant Gooners screaming his name in delight.

Szczesny…. honored to scream his name at Anfield

To finish, Kyle Bartley has made a huge impression in a Rangers side who have won Old Firm derbies and massive European encounters, with him at the anchor of their defence. Our defenders have been dropping like flies in the last few months. Surely now that Rangers have come into such horrific economic difficulties, it is time to take the 20 year old central defender back.
