Manchester United are one of the richest clubs in the world and have the money to lure any player away from his club. The signing of Paul Pogba was a statement of intent from the Red Devils and they are expected to try and sign many world class players in the coming seasons.

Thomas Muller has been United's target for many years but they have experienced only disappointment in their pursuit of the German. Former Bavaria president, Edmund Stoiber has recently ended all speculation and gave reasons as to why Muller will never join the Red Devils.

It was reported that United had made a bid last summer to bring the 27-year-old to Old Trafford but failed to have any sort of contact with the player. With Muller enduring his worst start to a Bundesliga season having found the back of the net just three times, rumours started emerging that United have been alarmed by his situation at the club. In an interview with German publication, Bild, Stoiber quashed any questions over Muller's future and reiterated the fact that he is not for sale.

Stoiber was quoted as saying, "No one on the Supervisory Board would vote to sell. It should not happen that Thomas Muller plays at Manchester United. Muller is the ‘boy next door’. He is the opposite of, for example, Cristiano Ronaldo. He is more than just an excellent footballer. A player like him is part of our DNA. He plays an important role at the club. Muller not only creates emotions with his goals, he talks to the fans hearts."

In the recent past, United have tasted success in luring one superstar from Munich as Bastian Schweinsteiger joined the Red Devils to play under Louis Van Gaal. Bayern fans were upset at that time as a 17-year career of the German veteran was brought to an end.

Stoiber added, "When Bastian Schweinsteiger went to Manchester United, the fans were not happy. But he’s 32 years old and wanted to experience something new. The members and fans, however, would never forgive us if we sell Thomas Muller. No matter how much money."

After making his debut in the 2008-09 season, Muller has gone on to make over 350 appearances for the German superpower. In his time with the Bavarians, the 27-year-old has gone on to win five Bundesliga titles, four DFB Pokals and one Champions League.
