Potential suitors of Thorgan Hazard have been left in disappointment as Borussia Monchengladbach have claimed to have sealed his signature on loan for the next 12 months from parent club Chelsea.

The younger brother of Chelsea star Eden has impressed over the past two years back in his native Belgium, having starred for Zulte Waregem and lifting the club to unprecedented heights, attracting a number of clubs as to his potential.

Liverpool were thought to have opened talks with Chelsea over Hazard in the early stages of the transfer window as they looked to bolster their squad going into their return to the Champions League, while Valencia were also thought to have been a potential place foor Hazard prior to the sacking of Juan Antonio Pizzi on Wednesday.

However, both clubs will be left disappointed as Monchengladbach suggested that a deal was in place for Hazard to spend 12 months in the Bundesliga with them, pouring fresh doubt on the future of Luuk de Jong, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Newcastle.

Monchengladback sporting director, Max Ebert, told reporters, “We have exchanged contracts with Chelsea and we have agreed with Thorgan.

“We have all agreed and now just need to sign the contracts.

“We were always going to make an attacking signing, no matter what the situation is with Luuk de Jong and Peniel Mlapa, and this will be Thorgan Hazard.”
