Ronaldo has constantly had to face criticism throughout his career

A lot of eyebrows were raised following Ronaldo's shock transfer to Juventus, not least because of the huge amount expended to get his services.

At 33, there are many who believe Ronaldo is past his prime and saw it as foolish on Juventus' part to have spent in excess of €100m for a four-year contract, which would see Ronaldo turn 37 at the expiration of his contract.

However, Juventus have already reaped huge rewards financially off the deal, with the club's stock soaring in the hours following the confirmation of the transfer, and more sales of Ronaldo's jersey recorded than that of the entire Juventus squad last season.

Ronaldo has constantly had to deal with criticisms over his performances, as his high-performance levels over the years made any drop in form thrust into the spotlight, but despite all the negative reports, Ronaldo always found a way to silence his critics by stepping up to the plate when it was least expected.

After going three matches without finding the back of the net, the naysayers have begun their campaign of suggesting Ronaldo is past his prime, but as he has shown on numerous occasions in the past, their criticism would only spur him to achieve greater things, and the first step would be by breaking his duck this weekend against Sassuolo.
