Tiki-Taka football is like chess: Arda Turan
Barcelona developed this style of play under Pep Guardiola.
Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan on Tuesday said the club's tiki-taka style of football is like chess.
The Catalan heavyweights are known for their possession-based style of football developed during the years when Pep Guardiola was the coach. Since then, they have more or less stuck to the style. Guardiola took over the reins at Barcelona in 2008 and won 14 trophies across four seasons as he changed the way the game is played.
"From the outside, it's like chess, which looks easy to play, but just like tiki-taka, it's not. Everyone has a duty, a position, and everyone is fulfilling their duties. It's exactly like a game of chess and it's not that easy at all," Turan was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The 29-year-old also has his eyes fixed on the Champions League trophy and added the team was keen on grabbing the headlines again.
"Of course we are hungry. We have one goal and that is to repeat last year. We want to win everything and so we're hungry. We want to repeat headlines again, especially in the Champions League," he said.
