Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably one of the best players to have graced the game. He has achieved success at all his clubs - Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus - as well as on the international stage with Portugal.

Throughout his glorious 18-year career, he has also had some world-class teammates who won trophies aplenty alongside Ronaldo. A few of them have retired, but others are still active.

On that note, here's a look at the five best active players Cristiano Ronaldo has played with.

#5 Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale is not the same player he once was, but the Welshman enjoyed a memorable stint with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

Signed for a then-world-record fee of £80 million from Tottenham Hotspur, the winger came with a lot of promise and certainly delivered the same at Madrid in his early years.

He helped Real Madrid win the La Decima in his first year before netting twice in the 2018 final against Liverpool as Los Blancos completed the Champions League three-peat. Bale has played 156 games with Ronaldo.

Bale's form nosedived thereafter, but following a successful loan spell with Spurs last season, he will look to prove his worth to Madrid again.

#4 Pepe

Pepe is one of the most underrated centre-backs in the game. The Portuguese ace may not be the most liked player, but his on-field performances have been legendary.

He reads the game unlike any other and never hesitates to put his body on the line. Pepe has scored a few goals from set-piece, underlying his aerial prowess.

Pepe has played 330 games with Ronaldo for club and country, including the Euro 2016 final, which the Selecao won.

#3 Gianluigi Buffon

Gianluigi Buffon left for Paris Saint-Germain the year Ronaldo arrived at Juventus. But he returned to the Bianconeri the next year and got to play two seasons with the Portuguese ace. Buffon, though, largely played second-fiddle to Wojciech Szczesny during this period.

With over a thousand games for club and country in his illustrious 26-year career, Buffon is widely hailed as one of the greatest ever goalkeepers the game has seen.

Now 43, he has shown no signs of slowing down. The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner has returned to Parma to continue his career at the club, for whom he debuted more than two decades ago.

#2 Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo were two gladiators for Real Madrid!

If Ronaldo was the battering ram who broke down teams with his imperious goalscoring prowess, Sergio Ramos was the brick. The veteran Spaniard has produced several defensive masterclasses over the years to etch his name in the history books.

Widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs of his generation and perhaps of all time, Ramos has an impressive 129 career goals, most of them being penalties and headers off set-pieces.

He recently joined Paris Saint-Germain after his contract with Madrid expired, ending a glorious 16-year stint with the club, where he won 21 trophies, including four Champions League titles.

#1 Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has made the most assists to Ronaldo.

Karim Benzema has played with Ronaldo more than any other player, making 341 appearances together. Benzema has also provided the most assists (47) to Ronaldo than any other player.

Both players joined the club in 2009. While the Portuguese was already a Ballon d'Or winner, Benzema was an up-and-coming striker.

Having playing with the likes of Ronaldo, Bale, Higuain and Raul, the Frenchman has struck 279 times for Los Blancos and is one of Real Madrid's ten most prolific goalscorers.

Since Ronaldo's departure, Benzema has become the main goalscoring man for Los Blancos, stepping up in key moments. But despite all his accomplishments, Benzema remains underrated.
