Bruno Fernandes was a fantastic signing in January, but was he the best business done in the month?

Danny Rose
Danny Rose joined Newcastle United from Tottenham Hotspur in a loan deal that cost the Magpies around £2m plus loan fees. The English fullback’s future had been under doubt ever since reports of a spat with Spurs manager Jose Mourinho had surfaced a couple of weeks ago. Whether that played a part in the player moving on to the St. James’ Park might never be known, but it is clear that Rose’s presence in the team will be a big boost for Newcastle United.

The Englishman has been a consistent performer in the left-back role for the Lilywhites in the last few years, but he was close to leaving the club earlier in the summer. However, a move never materialized and Rose went on to play 16 times for Spurs this season. The Englishman is a fantastic option for the left-back role in the Newcastle team and Steve Bruce will be delighted to have the player who started in the champions league final for Spurs last season. However, the deal does not include an option to buy at the end of the season.
Rose has appeared 214 times for Tottenham so far and has also scored 10 goals. His experience could be a huge bonus for a Newcastle side who are currently 12th in the league and pushing for a place in the top half of the table.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
