Sunil Chhetri

Sunil Chhetri spent his career early on with the I-League heavyweights Mohun Bagan for three years where he made a name for himself and made the debut for his nation in 2004. JCT was the next destination for the Indian skipper. At the age of 21, he went to score 21 times from 48 appearances before making a move to another part of Kolkata, East Bengal.

He spent a fruitful season with the I-League side netting nine goals from just 14 appearances in the process. In 2009, Dempo wrapped up a deal for the Indian forward and the 34-year-old helped the side by lifting the league title.

The Indian forward had everything - pace, ability to beat defenders with adept play and finding the back of the net with such ease. This prompted the American side Kansas City to bring him to their club. Sunil became the third Indian to play for a club outside the subcontinent. He returned to India with Chirag United after spending only one year outside of India.

He scored nine goals from 16 appearances upon his return to boyhood club Mohun Bagan. A new adventure sought Sunil Chhetri who decided to make a move to Portuguese heavyweights Sporting CP. He made three appearances for the reserves and completed his move to India once again. A year on loan at Churchill Brothers, then his joyous life with Bengaluru FC started.

In these five years at Bengaluru FC, Sunil Chhetri has scored 70 goals for the club becoming the highest scorer in the clubs history. In his debut campaign with Bengaluru FC in the ISL, he was adjudged Player of the Tournament carrying his team to the second place.
