Torres remarks on Chelsea again. But what's the point?

How many times have we heard quotes from Fernando Torres about his time at Chelsea when he has been away with Spain? We have heard how everything basically was a nightmare for him and we all know the story by now.

The Spanish Newspaper El Pais once again appears to be determined to sell their papers by using Torres to make headlines and surprise, surprise they have done it again this week!

The latest interview with Torres reveals that the marksman “Lost the appetite for the game” which is a headline in itself.

Torres is quoted as saying:

“Halfway through last season, I distanced myself from the values I had grown up with. In the past, I had team-mates who didn’t care if the team won or lost because they were not playing. I never wanted to be like that – but one day I discovered that I was like them, that it didn’t matter if Chelsea won or lost.

I wasn’t part of the group. I discovered that I was not happy because I had stopped being what I had always wanted to be. In the dressing room, you can never lose that group concept, but I learnt to look at myself and to realise that the only person that can change is you.

I became more mature, I came to know myself better and became conscious of the fact that it depends on me. I learnt to be more self-critical, to understand everyone better and to accept the situation.

How many of you Chelsea fans out there saw the headline appear late on yesterday or this morning and thought “Here we go again!” and it is exactly that as far as I am concerned.

If anything, the interview has been published to expose the fact that Torres has said that some of his team mates didn’t care if the team won or lost because they weren’t playing!

The thing is, Torres has moved on just like the football club has this season. It’s a fresh start with new players and a new playing style and right now everything looks good.

Could this be another example of the media trying to disrupt the dressing room once again and our management? Should Torres just shut up talking to the media and get on with playing his football and why does the media in Spain continue to refer only to these moments in the past and not the fact that Chelsea won the Champions League?

What’s the point?
