Player ratings of Chelsea players

Edouard Mendy 6.5/10

The Senegalese shot-stopper was largely undisturbed by Tottenham's toothless attack. He superbly parried away Erik Lamela’s 78-minute curler to ensure Chelsea finished with the clean sheet.

Antonio Rudiger 7.5/10

A man brewing with confidence, Rudiger was rock-solid at the heart of Chelsea's defence. He paired brilliantly with Thiago Silva and was quickest to snuff out any danger in the absence of the veteran defender.

Thiago Silva 6/10

Thiago Silva was replaced in the 36th minute after picking up a thigh injury. While on the pitch, the former PSG defender showed his class by dictating and orchestrating play from the back.

Cesar Azpilicueta 7/10

The Chelsea captain was as industrious as ever. He ensured Son was kept quiet all night, while also sending in few decent crosses inside Tottenham's box.

Marcos Alonso 7.5/10

Marcos Alonso has arguably been the Blues' best performer under Thomas Tuchel.

He terrorized Spurs' defence, keeping Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko on their toes, while also dealing with Bergwijn all night.

Jorginho 8/10

His superb reading of the game and excellent passing kept Chelsea moving for the entire 90 minutes. He gave his side the lead after powering his 24th-minute penalty past Hugo Lloris.

Mateo Kovacic 7.5/10

The Croatian midfielder, alongside Jorginho, simply dazzled at the centre of the park. He easily glided through Spurs' midfield, proving to be the link between Chelsea's attack and defence. Kovacic, however, missed a glorious chance to double the Blues' lead in the second-half.

Reece James 7/10

The Englishman, who was making his first start under Thomas Tuchel, performed brilliantly against Spurs. He provided support to the Chelsea attackers, drilling several dangerous crosses into the penalty area. James also helped out his team defensively.

Mason Mount 7/10

Mason Mount was the engine in the Chelsea midfield, playing alongside Matteo Kovacic and Jorginho. He occasionally raced forward, supporting the frontmen in the final third. Mount came close to scoring a second for the Blues, but was only denied by a brilliant Hugo Lloris save.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 7/10

Hudson-Odoi has fared well in his new wing-back role under Thomas Tuchel. The youngster pushed back the Tottenham defenders with his threatening movements, as he supported Chelsea at both ends of the pitch.

The youngster was replaced by Christian Pulisic in the 63rd minute.

Timo Werner 7/10

The German international was once again sloppy in front of goal, but his work-rate was unreal. Although he failed to hit the target, his movements troubled the Tottenham defenders. Werner won the penalty through which Jorginho opened the scoring in the first-half.

Player ratings of the Chelsea substitutes

Andreas Christensen 6/10

The Denmark international replaced the injured Thiago Silva in the 36th minute, and seamlessly fit into Chelsea's defence. He made two clearances and two blocks, while completing over 90% of his passes.

Christian Pulisic 6/10

The USA international, who came on for Hudson-Odoi, performed sensationally. He took on the Tottenham defenders at every chance, creating spaces for Timo Werner and Mason Mount.

N'Golo Kante 5/10

The Frenchman, who was making his first appearance in four games, put in a rather shaky performance.

He picked up a yellow card for a needless challenge late in the second-half after losing the ball deep in the Chelsea half.
