Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches joins Napoli
The Romanian international becomes the second defender to leave the club this summer after Younes Kaboul joined Sunderland.
London, July 31 Tottenham Hotspur have announced that their Romanian international footballer Vlad Chiriches will join Italian side Napoli. The 25-year-old defender will leave the English club after two disappointing seasons, in which he played only 43 games, Efe reported on Thursday.
He was pushed further down the pecking order at White Hart Lane after Spurs signed Toby Alderweireld from Atletico Madrid and becomes the second defender to leave the club this summer after Younes Kaboul joined Sunderland.
Chiriches joined Tottenham in August 2013 from Steaua Bucharest for 9.5 million euros ($10.3 million), but he was never able to secure a place in the starting line-up under any of his three coaches at the English club.
"We have reached an agreement with Napoli for the transfer of Vlad Chiriches. We wish Vlad every success for the future," the London club said in a statement on its official website.
He last appearance for Spurs in a competitive fixture came against Stoke in the Premier League clash on May 9 in which he was sent off.
