Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane praises Virat Kohli after India's win, Kohli responds

Harry Kane Virat Kohli tweets
Both Harry Kane and Virat Kohli had memorable moments in their respective international matches

Virat Kohli was India’s hero on Sunday as he led the Men in Blue to a six-wicket win over Australia in the 2016 World T20 and the win saw the hosts qualify for the semi-finals with five balls to spare. While praise for the vice-captain came in from all corners of the globe, one in-form Premier League footballer was also watching on in admiration.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane tweeted immediately after the sensational win and praised the Delhi-born 27-year-old batsman for his outstanding innings. Chasing 161 for a spot in the semi-finals, Kohli smashed 82 runs off 51 balls to lead India home on a tough batting track in Mohali when things looked difficult.

India had lost both their openers in Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma early before Suresh Raina’s wicket saw the scoreboard read 49/3 after eight overs. Yuvraj Singh’s injury saw the required run-rate creep up before captain MS Dhoni came in and steadied the innings, allowing Kohli to let loose.

Kane himself is in fine form this season, leading Tottenham to second place in the Premier League table with his goalscoring form. The 22-year-old English striker leads the Golden Boot race with 21 goals this season (27 goals in all competitions) in spite of a poor start to the campaign that saw him suffer a mini goal drought.

And when Kohli saw the tweet from the Spurs striker, he responded with a tweet of his own, thanking him for his wishes while also talking about his goal against Germany in England’s come-from-behind 3-2 win over Germany. The Three Lions were down 2-0 when Kane scored the first goal before Jamie Vardy and Eric Dier scored to grab a famous win in Berlin's Olympiastadion.

Kane scored a wonderful goal, turning quickly in the box to set himself up for the shot on goal that sparked England’s comeback.

However, in spite of the mutual respect, someone should probably inform Kane which Premier League club Kohli supports. It is a London club, but it’s not Tottenham!
