Eric Lamela scored the all-important first goal
The Argentine was selected to start the game alongside Son and Parrott in a new-look front three. The Argentine started the game well, trying to combine with Parrott and Son, both of whom looked lively and had chances to score. However, Tottenham failed to a breakthrough due to some poor finishing upfront.

Nevertheless, Lamela continued to be involved and tried to make things happen, pressing high up the pitch and helping his team close down the opposition. He was tidy with his passing and decent with his vision, as Tottenham were the better team in the opening stages. And, he showed his anticipatory skills right in the middle of the first half.
Parrott won the ball back and released Son in the final third. The Irishman burst forward to receive the ball back, but his well-taken shot was expertly saved by Buffon. Unfortunately for the legendary Italian goalkeeper, the ball was parried right in the path or Lamela, who had ghosted into the box. Lamela scored and gave Tottenham the lead that they deserved.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.
Deepungsu has been a Manchester United supporter since the year 2000. Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Like the fiery Scot, Deepungsu also leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accuracy in articles and only relies on credible sources.
Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
