What’s the story?

Chelsea and Liverpool have been put on red alert as Javier Pastore is reportedly on PSG's transfer list for January. The midfielder is available for just £26 million according to El Gol Digital (via talkSPORT).

Apart from the Premier League clubs, Inter Milan are also said to be keeping tabs on the Argentine. The 28-year-old is also keen on leaving the Ligue 1 side as he has fallen way down the pecking order.

In case you didn’t know...

PSG need to sell players to meet the Financial Fair Play regulations. They spent €222 million in the summer to get Neymar from Barcelona and are set to sign Kylian Mbappe for a reported fee of €168 million next summer when his loan at the club expires.

The heart of the matter

El Gol Digital claims that Chelsea and Liverpool are set to battle for Javier Pastore when the January transfer window opens. The Argentine is not getting enough game time at PSG and is keen on leaving them.

PSG are not interested in keeping him at the club and are ready to cash-in on him. The French side are reportedly demanding £26 million for him – an amount both the Premier League clubs are ready to meet.

Author’s Take

Pastore is a brilliant player but why Chelsea would want him is the real question. They are building a team with young players and how a 28-year-old would make it to the team is a mystery.

Liverpool too might only move for him if they sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. The Brazilian might force a move to Camp Nou again and should they get a good offer for him, the Reds might change their stance and sell him.

Inter Milan would be the best move for Pastore. He would have a better chance of starting matches at the Serie A side than the Premier League clubs. The Argentine has already played in the Serie A with Palermo and is well accustomed to things in the Italian league.
