Derby give Lampard permission to talk with Chelsea
Chelsea are desperate to appoint a manager before the players depart for the pre-season tour. The Blues want Stamford Bridge legend Frank Lampard to take over at the helm after Maurizio Sarri set sails for Juventus after a difficult year in London.
Derby had given Chelsea permission to make an approach to their manager and have now told Lampard that he can enter into negotiations. According to the report, Chelsea are ready to pay £4 million as Frank Lampard's compensation clause as per the terms on his contract with Derby.
Lampard has in fact been excused from training on Monday and Tuesday to sit down and get the discussions over with and resolve his future. Meanwhile, the Championship side will need to amp up their efforts to sign a new manager as they find themselves in a difficult predicament caused by no fault of their own.
