Real Madrid reactivate Neymar interest as Barcelona stall

What a summer it is turning out to be the world's most expensive player. Neymar Jr. has made no secret of his intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer and it looks like it's going to be a battle between his former club Barcelona and their eternal rivals Real Madrid for the Brazilian's signature.

Real Madrid wanted to sign Neymar back in 2011 and seeing as how Barcelona have stalled since the rumours first rolled up, Florentino Perez has decided to reignite their interest in the former Barcelona man.

Barcelona have reportedly been made aware of Real Madrid's entry into the race for Neymar's signature. Josep Maria Bartomeu and co., however, believe that Neymar will snub the Blancos' advances and sign for them.

Real Madrid's interest in Neymar stretches back to 2011 and they tried to sign him unsuccessfully during his stint at Barcelona. Neymar is still keen on returning to the Camp Nou and has informed Paris Saint-Germain of his wishes.

Florentino Perez is well aware of Neymar's uses on a marketing level and he knows that he will be the perfect signing to top off what has already become a top transfer window for the club having signed the likes of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy.

Perez is waiting for the chance to strike and he knows there are two things that could prove to be a stumbling block for Barcelona in their attempts to sign Neymar. Firstly, Barcelona will have to include a player/players as part of the deal. Real Madrid will not need to do that.

Secondly, PSG's and Barcelona's relationship is already strained with the latter making several approaches to sign some of the Ligue 1 champions' top players.

Real Madrid will also offer Neymar a more lucrative package than Barcelona and now it's all up to them to convince the Brazilian whose heart is currently at his former club.

Shortly after the English media broke the news that Manchester United have been given permission by the Saints to hold talks with their central midfielder Mario Lemina, the player revealed on an interview with France Football that he is planning on leaving the club this summer.

He said,

"There is no turning back, I’m not afraid, I made a choice and I take it to the end,”
"I stand by my plan, I decided to tell the leaders that I wanted to leave, there is no turning back.
"There is a risk, of course, but I know what I’m capable of, I’m 100 per cent and I’m going to prove that I can get back to my best. Some clubs may be more cautious, but they already know me. Today, I am fully recovered, I worked a lot. I am ready to move on."

Tottenham in talks to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has definitely convinced his board to splash the cash this summer transfer window with his team's impressive showing in the UEFA Champions League this past season. The club seems to have his back as the North London side is now holding talks with Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos ahead of a potential move.

However, Real Madrid are in no hurry to sell the 22-year-old. The Spaniard has a very high release clause and also has 4 years remaining on his current contract. However, he is surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu and therefore, a short term deal could be in the making.

Ceballos had hinted at a move after his impressive performances for the Spain u-21s. After Spain's victory in the finals of the u21 Euros against Germany, he said,

"I think [Zinedine] Zidane will have seen the tournament,"
"But we all know what he thinks.
"I would like to try out something new: next year, my goal is to play 40 games and play in the Euros."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms no bid has been made for Pogba

Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have been heavily linked with exits this summer. While Juventus and Real Madrid are said to be monitoring Pogba's situation, Lukaku has reportedly generated strong interest from Inter Milan. Both players reported for the pre-season tour and have touched down at Australia with the rest of the squad.

However, despite reports suggesting that the Frenchman is close to an exit, the Red Devils' manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now talked down all such claims. Addressing the press during their pre-season preparations in Australia, Ole said,

"It's an agenda against Paul, he's a great, great professional, never been any problems, he has a heart of gold,"
"Jesse and Paul yesterday walking around was portrayed as a fight between the two boys and I know you're here to sell papers and stories but they're all professional.
"Paul's never put himself out of the team, always given his best and I can't report anything other than that agents talk all the time.
"I can't be sitting here talking about Paul and what agents are saying, we've got a few years left of his contract and he's been fantastic."

Mesut Ozil looks set for Arsenal stay as Fenerbahce rule out potential move

Not going anywhere?

Turkish club Fenerbahce have now confirmed that they will not be making a move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil as it is not viable for them from an 'economic' point of view. Ozil, who is out of favour at Arsenal and still on very high wages, has been tipped for a move away from North London this summer.

However, that might just fail to work out as clubs are put off by his wage demands. Mesut Ozil currently earns £350,000-per-week at Arsenal. Those are numbers that only very few clubs can afford.

Fenerbahce revealed in a statement on their official website,

Mesut Özil, with his career and stance successfully represents our country abroad, is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.
However, Fenerbahce does not have an initiative for Mesut Ozil. Under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties.
