Liverpool have pulled out of the race for Olympique Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir. The Reds pursued him actively last summer and came very close to sealing a £53 million deal for the then 24-year-old before concerns over a knee injury stopped it from happening.

Nabil Fekir came so close to joining Liverpool that he had given a media interview and was even snapped donning a Liverpool shirt. However, Liverpool pulled out in the 11th hour after receiving a second opinion because of the risk they were running by shelling out in excess of £53 million for a player with an injury concern.

The Lyon president has revealed that Nabil Fekir will leave in the summer. However, the Reds will not come back with a new offer for the Frenchman especially now that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also ready to get back into business in Jurgen Klopp's midfield.
