With Gundogan's future remaining unresolved and Fernandinho not getting any younger, Pep and co. are expected to splash the cash in order to reinforce their midfield and 22-year-old Tanguy Ndombele has been rumoured to be on top of the list.
Ndombele impressed greatly as Manchester City took on Olympique Lyon in the UEFA Champions League and the Cityzens have been keeping tabs on him ever since. Recently, Ndombele mooted claims that City had made a move for him last summer.
Now it looks as though Manchester City will need to enter a bidding war to have any chance of signing the youngster.
