Trouble brewing between Eden Hazard and Jose Mourinho?

Eden Hazard and Jose Mourinho

Every since Eden Hazard’s comments were published yesterday, there has been plenty of debate on what he meant exactly. Jose Mourinho has revealed his take on Hazard this afternoon.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Norwich on Sunday, Mourinho was asked of comments made my Eden Hazard. Hazard is reported to have criticised our style of play, indicating that he is asked to try and make things happen by himself.

Mourinho said: “I listened to the interview, There was nothing critical in what he said.”

“When the comments come from a player like Eden it’s normal because he’s not the kind of player to sacrifice himself for the team. Normally you get these kind of comments from players like him, from players that can’t resolve a problem like we had in the first goal.”

“Eden is the kind of player that is not so mentally ready to look back to his left-back and to leave his life for him. If you see the first goal of Atlético you completely understand where the mistake was and why we conceded that goal. The perfect team at the top level cannot make these kinds of mistakes.”

When asked if Hazard still have work to do on the defensive aspects of his game, Jose said: “I’m not happy. I speak all season and I try to improve him all season.”

“I think all of us noticed John Terry’s reaction to Hazard when Atletico had scored their third goal and the second time they had managed to get in behind us down our left hand side. It was obvious that something would have been said after the game.”

“I personally believe Hazard is a better player without the ball now to the beginning of the season but by far from the finished article.”

Now Mourinho is being very clever here. He has defended Hazard in one instance but also had a pop at the Belgian in the next!

Could this spark a war of words with PSG waiting in the wings this summer?
