The latest chapter in English football's biggest rivalry was on display today as Manchester United hosted Liverpool at Old Trafford. The second place was up for grabs as Liverpool came into the fixture two points behind United and the battle did not disappoint at all.Rashford latched on to a Lukaku flick-on and struck it past a helpless Karius to give United the lead, and then doubled their lead ten minutes later with a cool finish. Liverpool raised the tempo in the second half and Mane forced an own goal from the returning Eric Bailly.Liverpool applied pressure relentlessly but United held on to a historic win. Here's Twitter doing its job as usual:The banter started even before kick off!Not sure whether my @btsportfootball colleague was going for the ball here or not 🤣👀 #MUNLIV pic.twitter.com/QPviJk3CR1— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) March 10, 2018Just a reminder not to get your hopes up today. #MUNLIV pic.twitter.com/aQnYYoBKCG— Paddy Power (@paddypower) March 10, 2018170 - This will be the 170th meeting in league competition between Manchester United & Liverpool. A high foot, which is a Red card (no debate), NOT given. The standard or refereeing in this country is quite frankly a joke, even more so at Old Trafford where EVERYTHING goes the home sides’ way.
