In an unexpected turn of events, Atletico Madrid announced the departures of both Yannick Carrasco and Nicolas Gaitan to newly promoted Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang. The Chinese side seem to have secured both the signings for a reported €48 million. While the two new signings will surely now help Dalian Yifang towards better performances in the CSL that starts on 2 March, the European club football has been dealt yet another blow as they lose one of the brightest stars in Carrasco to the benefits and riches of China.Twitter understandably exploded at this shock transfer move and here are some of the best tweets:Fair enough Gaitan going because he's 30 but Carrasco having been linked with some of the big European teams recently and with it being a World Cup year he shouldn't be going for the money yet. He's only 24 too!— Footy Accumulators (@FootyAccums) February 26, 2018If you go to China you’re a proper twat. Cannot believe Carrasco has ruined his career at 24.— - (@AnfieldRd96) February 26, 2018Carrasco and Gaitan both off to China. Even though the money there is unfathomable, you can’t be taken seriously as a footballer afterwards. Lack of ambition, that.— Xav Salazar (@XavsFutbol) February 26, 2018Carrasco is smart. The fees are becoming ludicrous now - so play in China for a year or 2, get that ¥¥¥, then move back to a good European club with a deeeeecent signing on bonus, low transfer fee and terrific wages.— Paul (@Kolology) February 26, 2018Carrasco and Gaitan going to 🇨🇳Two boards we won’t see in FIFA 19 pic.twitter.com/fYmeCRlJVi— Zweniel🍟@McDonalds (@ZwebackHD) February 26, 2018So Yannick Carrasco has moved to China, aged 24. Just two seasons ago he scored for Atletico in the Champions League final. Looked like one of the best rising talents in Europe at the time. Such a waste.— Joel Rabinowitz (@joel_archie) February 26, 2018Carrasco to China....Something really mercenary about a top player who is only 24 going to a league full of farmers for money. Belgian international too....— The United Stand (@UnitedStandMUFC) February 26, 2018Carrasco spending his peak years in China.
