Twitter explodes as Chelsea beat West Brom, and Sturridge gets injured

Chelsea picked up 3 valuable points

Chelsea played host to West Brom for their Matchday 27 clash in the Premier League - an eventful one, as it turns out. Coming into this game on the back of two embarrassing defeats to Bournemouth and Watford, Antonio Conte's side desperately needed a win to keep up with the other top six sides.

A brace from Eden Hazard sandwiched Victor Moses' effort as the Blues opened scoring in the 25th minute, via Hazard. Moses then doubled the lead in the 63rd, before Hazard came back to triple it in the 71st.

Most importantly, this win helped Chelsea leapfrog Tottenham back into 4th place, just 3 points short of second-placed Manchester United.

Another key talking point from the game was the fact that ever-injured Daniel Sturridge had to be substituted as early as the 4th minute, after getting injured just 3 minutes into the match.

Expectedly, Twitter was the place to be as fans flocked to the platform to not just praise Antonio Conte's men, with Eden Hazard quite clearly being the toast of the town, but also to cruelly troll Daniel Sturridge.

With that said, here are some of the best tweets we found:

First things first, here's a look at both of Eden Hazard's goals

Is Eden Hazard 'Mr Chelsea'?

Even Gary Linekar decided to weigh in

Of course, some fans refuse to count their chickens before they hatch

Tiemoue Bakayoko, it seems, was conspicuous by his absence

Chelsea fans are, quite understandably, a relieved bunch after this result.

Although, it must be said that Daniel Sturridge got his fair share of attention as well, after having to be taking off just 3 minutes into his Chelsea return with West Brom owing to injury. What it did ensure though, was that the Englishman ended the night being the butt of all jokes.

This one user, in particular, was in quite the mood as it turns out
