Barcelona’s dominance of La Liga continues as the defending champions defeated rivals Real Madrid for the second time in the space of four days. The Blaugrana thrashed their rivals 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday to boot them out of the Copa del Rey.And Barca once again repeated their heroics, this time in La Liga, thanks to a first-half strike from midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The Croatian enforcer combined beautifully with Sergio Roberto before coolly placing the ball past Thibaut Courtois. This was the fourth meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona this season, and the Los Blancos have not won any. The first league meeting between the two clubs ended with Ernesto Valverde’s side thrashing Madrid 5-1 at the Camp Nou.Saturday’s 1-0 win at the Bernabeu means the Spanish champions have now completed the double over their bitter rivals. Barca have also further extended their lead over Madrid in the La Liga table. Meanwhile, Madrid remain third on the league table and could drift further away from the top two should Atletico Madrid win their game on Sunday. As it stands, Valverde’s side ma win the treble for the third time, having recorded such a feat in 2009 under Pep Guardiola and in 2015 under Luis Enrique. Real Madrid, on the other hand, risk going trophy-less and will now have to pin their hopes on the UEFA Champions League.Social media has also been buzzing with comments from football fans across the globe. While some believe the Clasico has lost its spark since Cristiano Ronaldo departed to Juventus, others insist Barcelona are just superior and so much better than their rivals. On the flip side, there are also those who have wasted very little time in trolling Madrid for losing to Barca.Below are some of the best tweets:Isco: Link me to Barcelona.
