Twitter goes upside-down as Cristiano Ronaldo's insane goal helps Real Madrid beat Juventus 3-0

Juventus v Real Madrid - UEFA Champions League Quarter Final Leg One
Is there any stopping this man?

The much-awaited quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions league arrived among much fanfare and the match between Juventus and Real Madrid was a feisty affair to say the least. It was a repeat of last season's final, in which Madrid ran out 4-1 winners.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the third minute when he reacted first to Isco's low cross to direct it past Buffon. The only other decent chance for Madrid came when Kroos' long-range effort hit the crossbar, an effort that had beaten Gianluigi Buffon.

Juventus fought back valiantly but had to settle for half-chances and failed to work Keylor Navas, except for once, when he had to react brilliantly to keep out Gonzalo Higuain's header. Madrid headed into half-time with a lead to protect.

Juventus started the second half brightly, but every single person watching the game was swept off their feet in the 64th minute when Ronaldo doubled the lead with an outrageous overhead kick that can only be described as out-of-this-world.

Juventus' worries were deepened two minutes later when Dybala was shown a straight red for a high foot. Marcelo added a third in the 72nd minute and Madrid has already one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

As usual, Twitter has had its say.

STAT ATTACK:

But forget the numbers, JUST HOW INSANE WAS THAT GOAL:

Juventus were the subject of enough tweets on their own too:
