Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the hero for Juventus on Wednesday night as the Portuguese ace came off the bench to score the equaliser in his side's 2-2 draw against Atalanta.

The former Real Madrid star was not in the starting eleven for the first time since joining the Serie A giants in a hefty transfer over the summer.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri wanted to hand the Portuguese his first Serie A rest at the club, with his only other break being in the wake of the Champions League red card he received during the side's clash against Valencia.

The Juventus boss said (via Goal),

"Ronaldo's going to be on the bench".
"He's available, but he's going to watch the game together with me for the first time."
"I'm very happy with how he's doing, as I am with everybody."
"We need him to be in his best shape in March when we get to the business end of the Champions League. He's going to have to be even more decisive than he has been in recent years."

The former Manchester United star has played all 90 minutes of 17 games for the Bianconeri, netting 12 goals across all competitions in the process.

However, when Juventus fell behind 2-1, with a man down after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off, Allegri finally decided his star recruit wouldn't be getting that break after all.

Ronaldo was brought on in the 65th minute to salvage a point for the side, saving the table-toppers from their first defeat of the season.

With the draw, Juventus remain unbeaten in Serie A, and are nine points ahead of their closest competitors, Napoli. Their only defeat this season came during the club's Champions League clash against Ronaldo's former side, Manchester United.

Twitter has since reacted to the feat.
