Cristiano Ronaldo once again emerged as the saviour for Juventus as the Portuguese talisman scored a late equaliser to deny Torino their first derby away win in 24 years.

The opener came courtesy of a low Sasa Lukic effort which was a result of a costly mistake from Miralem Pjanic. Hopes for Torino's first away derby victory were, however, dashed when Ronaldo intercepted Leonardo Spinazzola's cross to score a phenomenal header in the 84th minute.

The goal marks the 100th header of Ronaldo's career and takes his goal tally in the Serie A to 21, which is only two away from current top-scorer, Fabio Quagliarella. The Portuguese ace is looking to finish the season as the highest scorer in the league and judging by the way he's playing, he is well on course to overtake the Sampdoria striker.

The 34-year-old also boasts of having 601 club goals in his career, just days after he reached the 600-goal milestone.

Longstanding rival, Lionel Messi, caught up with the former Real Madrid star as he scored his 600th career goal against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night.

Shortly after Messi's Champions League heroics, Juventus coach, Massimiliano Allegri, stated that the Argentine's achievement would help Ronaldo get fired up for the derby clash against Torino. He said,

"Messi is a good stimulus for Cristiano. We have a derby and Messi achieved that [600 goals] yesterday. He will be fired up to move ahead in the scoring and he aims to finish as top-scorer in Serie A."

Juventus have already won their eighth Serie A title recently and are seeing off the remaining games of the season.

Ronaldo, who has come to Juventus' rescue more than once, has now been lauded for his latest achievement on Twitter.
