It was a routine win for Liverpool on Saturday night as they beat Newcastle United 2-0 at Anfield. Rafa Benitez had set his team up to sit back and defend. The game plan was working for Newcastle with their tight and compact setup allowing the Reds attackers less space to create any real chances in the opening half hour of the game.Liverpool's dominance finally paid dividends when they broke the deadlock five minutes before halftime. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain drove ahead to the box, finding the ball to Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian did not fail as he put the ball through the goalkeeper to give the home side the lead. The second half started just the way it ended for Klopp's men. An excellent build-up play that started from the defence involving several passes found Firmino who played the through ball to Sadio Mane and the Senegalese converted his shot from a relatively tight angle to double the lead.Late in the game, Salah was put through one on one but a challenge from behind by Jamaal Lascelles on the edge of the box did not result in the referee awarding a penalty which left Jurgen Klopp infuriated on the touchline. The win moves Liverpool to 60 points as they climb up to second place in the standings, a point ahead of Manchester United. Here's how Twitter reacted.Mohammed Salaaaaah!
