All eyes turned to the Wembley stadium as Manchester City travelled to face Tottenham in Saturday's late kick-off.City were coming on the back of three successive defeats in all competitions which saw them getting knocked out of the Champions League as well.Tottenham on the other hand, headed into the game in high spirits as they were aiming for a fifth consecutive win in all competitions. They had a seven-point lead over fifth-placed Chelsea ahead of kick off. From the first minute, City asserted their dominance and Gabriel Jesus scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute as he latched onto a through ball from Vincent Kompany.IIkay Gundogan doubled the lead three minutes later from the penalty spot after Raheem Sterling was fouled by Hugo Loris, although the contact was made outside the box. However, Spurs pulled one back through Christian Eriksen who, after some neat work from Harry Kane, poked the ball against Laporte, which ricocheted back into the net.Spurs started the second half strongly and against the run of play, it was Sterling who found the net to make it 3-1 following a corner.Spurs tried to fight back valiantly but City held their ground to go within touching distance of the Premier League title (again). Here's how Twitter reacted:KEY GOALS:Gabriel Jesus scores against Spurs 🔥 pic.twitter.com/z1x0RViLyx— Brazil Football 🇧🇷 (@BrazilEdition2) April 14, 2018GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLL!! @IlkayGuendogan from the penalty spot!⚪️ 0-2 🔵 #spursvcity #mancity pic.twitter.com/B7r9L3sNE1— Manchester City (@ManCity) April 14, 2018Christian Eriksen’s goal on the brink of half-time to get Spurs right back into this game.#THFC #COYSpic.twitter.com/aI5u6It9yt— Last Word On Spurs🎙 (@LastWordOnSpurs) April 14, 2018"If at first you don't succeed..." 🎯It's statue-esque defending from Tottenham as Raheem Sterling hammers home the rebound to make it 1-3 to Manchester City!Watch the final 10 minutes live on Sky Sports Premier League now! https://t.co/faz4wHDcuh— Sky Sports PL (@SkySportsPL) April 14, 2018PRAISE FOR CITY:Tottenham are getting absolutely battered.
