Marcus Rashford has been a part of the Manchester United setup for almost 15 years having joined the side's academy way back in 2005 aged just eight and went on to make his debut for the senior side in record-breaking style in 2015 under the management of Louis Van Gaal.Having hit a brick wall in negotiations for a contract extension in the last few months, Manchester United have announced that they have agreed terms with Rashford on a four year extension worth a whopping £250,000 per week.Rashford is coming off the most productive season of his career till date, having scored 14 goals from 47 matches in all competitions and his contract extension would come as a welcome relief to everyone associated with the Red Devils. The 21-year-old forward had been on a 45,000-a-week deal which was set to expire in 2020 and as such, the club were eager to tie him down to a new long-term contract. The England international has scored 45 goals from 170 matches in all competitions for the Red Devils and is set to become the joint-third highest earner at Manchester United behind Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez and on par with Anthony Martial. As expected, Twitter users were quick to express their opinions on the micro-blogging site with some expressing disappointment and considering it a waste of money while others were genuinely pleased as Rashford is the only Ge they have if Pogba leaves this summer. Also see : Copa America Standings, EPL Transfer News, Womens World Cup Bracket.Manchester is my home. It’s an absolute joke now that players r rewarded for failure. If we r going to slate the Glazers then players have to face the music too.— Sav (@jonmikesav8) June 29, 2019Marcus Rashford last 3 seasons:100 PL appearances 22 ⚽️Ashley Barnes last 3 seasons:101 PL appearances 27⚽️£250k a week 🤷🏻‍♂️ pic.twitter.com/nzj3lsOuB7— TAS🔵⚪️ (@coys100) June 29, 2019Never forget who was with you from the start 🖤 pic.twitter.com/lchSK6craO— Marcus Rashford (@MarcusRashford) July 1, 2019Rashford finds out what United are offering him for scoring 22 goals in 3 full seasons #MUFC pic.twitter.com/qcpJrMBOTL— Average Striker (@AverageStriker) June 29, 2019Marcus Rashford's new 200k a week contract is 20k a week more than Football Writers Player of the year Raheem Sterling gets. It would cost at least £80 million to adequately replace him. Smart in my eyes. 👍🏻— Dougie Critchley (@DougieCritchley) July 1, 2019I wonder why on earth people are so concerned about Rashford's new wage whereas people like Shaw and Martial are getting better wages than him. Don't forget it is his second contract extension and his previous one was just 45kpw.#Rashford2023 #mufc #mufctransfer— Hasib Khan Chowdhury (@Pritom_MUFC) July 1, 2019We don’t choose how much the club pays out in wages. Instead of getting on the young lads back. Give him chance to earn it and back him #Rashford— Luke (@LukeCas24) July 1, 2019Manchester United officially resumed training ahead of next season on July 1st and are expected to take tours to China, Singapore and Australia, with pre-season friendlies lined up against clubs like Inter Milan, Perth Glory, Tottenham and Kristiansund lined up.
