Twitter reacts to Philippe Coutinho's potentially season-ending injury

Philippe Coutinho
Coutinho sustained a serious ankle injury

Liverpool superstar Philippe Coutinho picked up a nasty injury in the ongoing clash against Sunderland at Anfield. The Brazilian came off worse after a challenge from Black Cats defender Didier Ndong and was stretchered off the field with his foot in a brace and his arms on his head.

Coutinho looked to have either broken his ankle or twisted it really badly which could mean severe damage to his ankle ligaments. Although the severity of the injury is yet to be confirmed, from the looks of it his season could be potentially over, if not he will spend at least 3-4 months on the sidelines.

The 24-year-old has been in sensational form for the Reds so far this season and has been one of the main reasons behind Liverpool's resurgence this season with the Anfield side currently in 3rd position in the league table. However, depending on the result of their ongoing game they might end up at the top of the table.

Coutinho had so far managed to score 6 goals and assisted another 6 in 14 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side and his absence could prove to be a huge dent in their title hopes. Things are going from bad to worse for the Anfield side who lost Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana due to injuries in the recent past.

Twitter, as you would expect, didn’t hold back and trolled Liverpool fans while some moaned the injury to such a promising player, who had lit up the Premier League with his scorchers.
