Twitter reacts after Real Madrid thrash Valencia 4-1 at Mestalla in La Liga

Real Madrid desperately needed a good result when the travelled to the Mestalla to play Valencia and they did just that with a 4-1 win on Saturday in La Liga. Cristiano Ronaldo's brace (both penalties) in the first half followed by late goals from Marcelo and Toni Kroos gave Zinedine Zidane' side all three points.

It wasn't easy as Valencia looked set to fight back and equalise when the score read 2-1 and Zidane had withdrawn both Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. However, Los Blancos managed to see off any trouble before extending their lead.

The result sees Real Madrid now two points behind third-placed Valencia with a game in hand. however, they are still 16 points behind Barcelona having played the same number of games.

In fact, Ronaldo made it 101 after Real Madrid were awarded a second penalty.
