Everton have held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, giving a boost to Manchester City's title hopes.

The Reds are now second in the Premier League table with 70 points, one point behind last season's champions Manchester City. Also, City have a better goal difference of 56 to Liverpool's 49, if in the future, both the title challengers end up with equal points on board.

Twitter was quick to react to Liverpool's stalemate in the Merseyside derby tonight. Let's look at the top tweets directed towards Liverpool potentially losing out on a chance to stay atop the English top tier.

Compliments to Everton, who really had a great game today despite their recent horrendous form.

Some other Premier League clubs' supporters poked fun at Liverpool, reminding them for previous seasons where the club went on to lose the title in the dying fixtures of the season.

Liverpool have only 4 wins from their last 11 games.

Liverpool have one of the biggest games of their season to come against Chelsea at Anfield, and the fixture does not bring back good memories for the Merseyside club!

Exactly two months ago, Manchester City were 10 points behind Liverpool in the third place, and right now, they are a point ahead of them. Time flies fast.

This is exactly how the Premier League table stands now after the Liverpool-Everton game today.

Have Liverpool really bottled the Premier League? Elsewhere, in Germany, Jurgen Klopp's previous club Borussia Dortmund are also losing out on the Bundesliga after being on top for almost the whole season.

Some more reactions:

With 9 games still to play, Liverpool and Manchester City both have two big fixtures remaining to be played out.

While Manchester City go head to head against Tottenham at the Etihad before a dangerous trip to Old Trafford, Liverpool will host both Tottenham and Chelsea at Anfield.

There is no doubt that these four fixtures will decide the Premier League this season.
