Arsenal’s season continues to go from bad to worse as they suffered a 3-0 away defeat to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace, which severely dented top 4 hopes for Arsene Wenger’s side. Sam Allardyce’s 16th placed side now find themselves 6 points clear of the relegation zone and despite their cruel fixture list, the Eagles are more than certain to escape relegation.

Andros Townsend opened the scoring for the home side in the 17th minute, tapping home from close range before Yohan Cabaye doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, beating Martinez with a looping shot despite being off balance. Luka Milivojevic completed the rout for the Eagles as he buried the spot-kick after Palace were awarded a penalty for a foul on Townsend.

The loss meant that Arsenal have lost 4 consecutive away games for the firs time under Arsene Wenger. It also meant that the Gunners have won only 4 games – two out of which came against non-league opposition – since the start of February.

Twitter, as you would expect, didn’t hold back as Arsenal were trolled for staying at 6th position and dropping another crucial 3 points. Here are the best tweets:
