#1 They have nothing to lose
Olympique Lyon are the overwhelming underdogs in this tie - make no mistake it. However, while Barcelona might be clear favorites, that does not give them the right to underestimate Lyon, as doing so could be at their own peril.
Whereas the hosts have an abundance of highly paid, proven world-class players who have won it all and have almost nothing left to prove, Lyon's players are hungry, largely untested and desperate to make a mark on the grandest stages.
As the saying goes, 'there is nothing more dangerous than fighting a man with nothing to lose' and this holds very true in this scenario.
Barcelona are desperate to win the UCL and this aim for UCL glory coupled with the fact that they are playing at home means the Catalans have their reputation to protect and hence have it all to lose.
This is a far from ideal situation for Barcelona to be in (as they found out rather embarrassingly last season against AS Roma) and they would not want to take the French side lightly.
