UEFA Champions League 2019-20: Barcelona 0-0 Slavia Prague - 3 Talking Points as Blaugrana register stalemate at the Camp Nou
#2 Ousmane Dembele failed to make his opportunity count
Luis Suarez picked up an injury in Barcelona 3-1 defeat against Levante in the weekend and the Uruguayan forward was unavailable for the game. In his absence, Ousmane Dembele was chosen to partner Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann in attack.
Starting in his preferred right-wing position, Dembele produced a lacklustre display that was devoid of any real quality. The Frenchman's decision making, in particular, wasn't sharp enough on the day and he failed to make his opportunity count after being trusted by his manager.
Dembele has divided opinion since his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund and the fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the Frenchman for his poor showings and torrid luck with injuries.
As Barcelona looked to break the deadlock in the second half, Dembele was withdrawn in favour of 17-year-old Ansu Fati and the teenager created the best chance of the game for Lionel Messi since coming on.
Dembele failed to impress on the day and if Suarez's injury is long-term, the Blaugrana will need the 22-year-old to step up and produce the goods on a regular basis.
