Erling Braut Haaland announced his arrival in the UEFA Champions League by scoring three goals for Salzburg against Genk, to become the youngest player after Raul and Wayne Rooney to register a Champions League hat-trick.

In the process, the 19-year-old Haaland also became the eighth player to score three (or more) goals on his debut in the Champions League.

Not content with a record-breaking debut appearance, the Norwegian teenager then scored in a 3-4 loss at Liverpool and also both goals in Salzburg's 2-3 home loss to Napoli. That made him the first player to score 6 goals in his first 3 games in the competition.

Haaland's goal in the 1-1 draw at Napoli made the Norwegian teenager one of only 4 players to score in each of his first 4 games in the Champions League. Ze Carlos (FC Porto), Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus) and Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid) are the others.

The Salzburg forward's goal in his team's 4-1 win at Genk made him the youngest player and the only teenager to score in each of his first five games in the competition.

The Norwegian forward failed to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo's feat of scoring in all six games in a Champions League season as Salzburg fell to a 0-2 home defeat to Liverpool on Matchday 6. That ended his debut campaign in the competition with 8 goals.
