Unai Emery has said that German playmaker Mesut Ozil needs to adapt to different positions at Arsenal, and that he needs to show flexibility and versatility, as the Spanish manager will be trying him at different positions across the pitch.

Ozil's preferred number 10 position will be likely to be his position at the club for a long time, but the work rate and defensive duties Emery expects from him are high. In fact, that is what the Spanish manager expects from the whole squad.

Ozil can be deployed as a winger too, but he's lethal as an attacking midfielder, as he lacks the pace to compete with the modern day fullbacks. However, he can find team-mates on the pitch with one eye closed as his vision and awareness are second to none.

Will Ozil play against Cardiff City?

After being ill and not present for last weekend's win over West Ham, Ozil is ready to make a return to play Cardiff City. The German is declared fit and will most likely be in the starting line-up as the Gunners play away from home.

According to Daily Star, Emery had this to say on Ozil.

“Mesut in his career he played as a 10 and on the right. When he was playing in Madrid, I remember a lot of matches on the right. His quality is for playing between the lines.
“But I spoke with him for his best position on the pitch and I know he can play right and 10. And he wants that I can use him for two positions. Every player in the squad plays in the position we need.
“Our demands are very high, very great, but I want to ask every player every day to give us more, but not just Mesut, the team, the squad.

It's clear that Emery believes in his tactics, and will not continue the free-flowing and "beautiful" football Arsenal once played under Wenger.

However, Arsenal under Emery look dedicated and focused to win, with every player giving more than a hundred percent on and off the pitch

This is Arsenal's new era and the success they achieve depends upon Emery's vision and his decision-making. The Gooners have put hopes on the Spanish manager and he'd certainly want to leave the Emirates with at least one domestic double, if not more.
