Uruguay coach warns of complacency against Jordan in World Cup qualifying playoff

Montevideo - Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez warned his team against complacency ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifying playoff second leg against Jordan.

The Celeste will take a 5-0 lead into the match at the Estadio Centenario, but Tabarez insisted his team had not yet begun celebrating their passage to Brazil 2013, Xinhua reported.

“This is a serious match, not a training run,” Tabarez said.

“When the game finishes we hope to be able to celebrate qualifying for the World Cup but we still have another step to take.”

Tabarez said last week’s 5-0 victory in Amman showed the team was taking nothing for granted after a gruelling South American qualifying campaign.

“This has special significance because we were close to being eliminated,” he said.

“This is a chance for us to cap three years of hard work and achieve our goal of playing at the World Cup in Brazil.”
