Valencia have celebrated their magnificent 2-1 win over Barcelona by replicating the infamous dressing room image that Real Madrid took after their win in El Clasico. Cristiano Ronaldo’s place in Valencia’s photo was taken by central defender Aymen Abdennour, although Valencia added their own twist to the image.

Barcelona were the victims of the same dressing room antics, which also came after the same scoreline with which they lost to Real Madrid. While Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema were Barcelona’s tormenters-in-chief on that night, this time it was Santi Mina and an own goal from Ivan Rakitic that meant that Barcelona lost 2-1 with Messi grabbing his 500th goal.

Valencia were deserved winners, and celebrated as such. The players’ joy in the dressing room culminated in the picture above, a cheeky tribute to Real Madrid and Ronaldo’s ‘ab’nificent masterpiece, with Algerian centreback Aymen Abdennour flexing his rather well-defined body to emulate his Portuguese counterpart.

Valencia’s squad did sneak in a taunt at Barcelona by prominently displaying winger Denis Cheryshev’s shirt, as the on loan Real Madrid player was subject to taunts at the Nou Camp in a Copa del Rey fixture earlier. Cheryshev voiced his approval on Twitter, saying “Congratulations team! Great game! Thank you for remembering me!”

Valencia aren’t the first to imitate Ronaldo

Los Che are the latest in a series of clubs that have decided to mock Ronaldo and Real Madrid’s dressing room picture. Gareth Bale tweeted the image after Real Madrid stormed back from 1-0 down to win the latest edition of El Clasico, resulting in a celebration that will be remembered for years to come, although for slightly dubious reasons.

However, Madrid have been serially mocked, with the first to do so being Dutch side Almere City, who posed for a photo just days after Real Madrid players releaased that image. Special attention was paid to the player taking the Ronaldo role, as he sported what can be generously described as a ‘portly’ figure.

The female outfit of Dutch side Dussense Boys then posted their take on Ronaldo’s infamous pose, although they were obviously a little more covered up than the Portuguese star.
