La Liga club Valencia CF have rejected a £27 million bid for defender Nicolas Otamendi. They refused to name the club who offered them the money for the Argentinian. However, Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague says that the club in question is English side Manchester United.

The 26-year-old joined Valencia less than a year ago for a rumoured £10 million from Portuguese giants FC Porto. The Argentinian has represented his country 18 times, but missed out on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

His only international goal came in a 1-0 friendly win over Venezuela in Kolkata, India.

The defender was loaned to Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro after Valencia bought him from Porto, but has represented his parent club, Valencia, in the current season.

He has been in red-hot form for Valencia, ending Real Madrid’s 22-match winning run by scoring the winner in Valencia’s 2-1 victory over the European Champions.

Manchester United have denied the reports linking them to the mega bid for Otamendi, but, they are in need of a central defender.

Here is the tweet by Guillem Balague that claims United made the offer for Otamendi:
