Victor Moses' move to Liverpool will benefit the player

Leeds United v Chelsea - Capital One Cup Quarter-Final

Victor Moses

As soon as Chelsea announced the signing of Willian and despite the worrying rumours about Juan Mata, it became clear that one of our attacking midfielders in the squad would be leaving. Despite an impressive pre-season, Victor Moses today will sign for Liverpool on loan for the season. It’s a surprising move but one that makes perfect sense.

Let’s have some perspective here for a second. Who would you choose, Victor Moses or Willian? It’s a ruthless attitude to have but we have to consider what is best for Chelsea right here, right now.

I, personally, am a big fan of Moses. He is someone who is still learning the game and fine tuning his act. He has already provided important moments for Chelsea in his career and will continue to do so but for the time being, a move to Liverpool is a good move for him.

Why Liverpool? Well, first and foremost, you would have to believe that Chelsea do not see Liverpool as direct competition for a Champions League top four finish this season which is why they have done business with them.

Brendan Rogers has Chelsea connections with Jose Mourinho being on in particular and you would have to imagine Moses will play more often than not this season as part of the arrangement between them.

Liverpool under Rogers are a club rebuilding for the future with some exciting young players on their books. Victor Moses will add to that line up and will provide Liverpool with an attacking option out wide or even through the middle.

For the player in World Cup year, this is a perfect opportunity for regular football in the Premier League. For Chelsea, hopefully Moses will be a success this season and next summer we will have a better player on our hands to come in and provide competition for places just as Kevin De Bruyne has done this season.

I can understand some Chelsea fans being disappointed and I mean no disrespect to Moses when I say this but right now, I would take Willian as part of our squad with Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle and De Bruyne for this season.
