The January transfer window does not see as many signings as the summer window but there have been a dew deals done by various clubs. After not signing an outfield player in the summer (the only top division club in Europe to not do so) Arsenal, finally signed midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel.

So TalkSport took it a step further by tricking fans into thinking Arsene Wenger was going to sign one more player – Fernando Wwirst. If you’re wondering who that is, don’t worry. It’s a fictional name – an anagram of the term ‘Transfer Window’.

The ‘attacking midfielder’ is seen walking with his partner in hand towards the stadium, his head bowed low to avoid the press. He even sports a cap and a pair of sunglasses to play the part.

The fake reporter keeps pestering the ‘player’ for an exclusive and presses him for details on his transfer. All the while, Fernando replies in monosyllables or in Spanish either saying ‘No comment’ or that he does not speak English.

To complete the ruse, they even have a few fake fans who approach him for an autograph and a few selfies on their mobile phones. Naturally, the curiosity of the fans milling around is aroused and they do not want to miss out on the action, taking selfies with Fernando who was only too happy to oblige.

The reporter even asks a few fans who actually think he would be a great signing, even talking about how the club needed goalscorers and that Fernando was ‘perfect’. A couple of disappointed Chelsea fans are also seen lamenting the fact that he has signed for Arsenal.

One fan even thinks he could replace Theo Walcott in the starting lineup at Arsenal while another welcomes Fernando to the club, provided he signs, and hopes he even scores goals!

Well played!
