Video: Hakan Calhanoglu's thunderbolt finishes great team move for Leverkusen against Atletico

Hakan Calhanoglu celebrates after netting the winner on Wednesday night

Bayer Leverkusen defeated Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 clash thanks to a goal from Hakan Calhanoglu.

Neither side could open their account in the first 45 minutes of the game, but the second half produced a great team goal. Drmic controlled the ball and layed it off to midfielder Karim Bellarabbi, whose cheeky backheel pass found Calhanoglu, who controlled it beautifully, before rifling the ball into the roof of the net, past Atletico goalkeeper Miguel Moya.

That proved to be the only goal of the night as the German side took a slight advantage, ahead of the second leg on March 18th at the Estadio Vicente Calderón. Atletico would consider themselves lucky that the difference is only one goal, and they still can go through without great difficulty.

Calhanoglu, who is known to be great from long-rangers and set-pieces, proved it again with that goal, enhancing his reputation no doubt.
